Albacete recovers two endangered red kite chicks
Two red kite chicks (Milvus milvus), an endangered species, have been successfully released into the wild in the province of Albacete. The birds were rescued by Environmental Agents after falling from their nest while attempting to fly in a private residential area.
Following their rescue, the chicks were treated at the Castilla-La Mancha Wildlife Recovery Center. After receiving veterinary care and monitoring, they were released back into their natural habitat. The birds are currently undergoing a learning process to acquire essential survival skills, such as scavenging and locating food independently.
Llanos Valero, the provincial delegate for Sustainable Development, emphasized that Albacete currently hosts three red kite nests. She noted that the recovery of these specimens is vital for preserving biodiversity and maintaining the ecological balance of the region.
