Albaladejo hosts 300 reenactors for Siglo de Oro festival
The sixth edition of the ‘Albaladejo Siglo de Oro’ historical reenactment event in Albaladejo, Spain, has seen significant growth, attracting over 300 reenactors. This marks a substantial increase from the approximately 50 participants seen in the event's early years. Participants have traveled from various parts of Spain and other European countries to participate in the festivities.
José Manuel Caballero, the second Vice President of Castilla-La Mancha, attended the event and emphasized the importance of promoting the Campo de Montiel region as a historical area with its own distinct identity. The event utilizes historical research to recreate 16th-century life through theater, music, traditional crafts, and gastronomy, while also repurposing local historical sites such as the Corral de Comedias and old smithies for cultural use.
In addition to celebrating local heritage, regional authorities highlighted ongoing investments in Albaladejo, including the construction of a health center, a nursery school, and support for the agricultural sector and local workers.
