Alban Bagbin confirms Ghana's anti-LGBTQ+ bill will pass

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has assured the public that the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, commonly known as the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, will be enacted into law following a second consideration by the House.

Addressing delegates at a national conference in Koforidua, Mr Bagbin explained that the legislation was previously rushed through during his absence, leading to the identification of crucial errors and flaws in the version passed by the House. He stated that these mistakes, largely resulting from last-minute amendments, must be systematically corrected to ensure the bill serves as a national consensus rather than a partisan issue.

The Speaker emphasized his commitment to establishing the measure as part of the country's legal structure during his tenure, noting that the values within the bill hold deep significance for all Ghanaian citizens.
