Albania and Japan seek to strengthen defense and security cooperation

Albanian Defense Minister Ermal Nufi met with Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense, Yohei Wakabayashi, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations in defense and security. The meeting focused on international and regional security developments and the potential for expanded cooperation between the two nations.

Key areas for future collaboration include the exchange of expertise, increased contact between defense institutions and armed forces, and joint activities. The discussions also covered humanitarian assistance, peacekeeping operations, and enhancing resilience against emerging security threats. Minister Nufi emphasized that Albania views Japan as an important partner, stating, ‘Our aim is clear: to build new bridges of cooperation and an ever-stronger partnership between Albania and Japan.’
