Albania beats San Marino 2-1 in dramatic Nations League victory

Albania secured a dramatic 2-1 victory against San Marino in a UEFA Nations League Group C1 match at the Air Albania Stadium. Kristjan Asllani opened the scoring for the hosts in the 11th minute with a long-range strike. However, San Marino mounted a resilient defense and managed to equalize in the 66th minute through Lorenzo Lazzari.

The match appeared to be heading toward a draw until the 93rd minute, when a VAR review resulted in a penalty for Albania following a handball by San Marino's Filippo Fabbri. Asllani converted the penalty to seal the win, moving Albania to the top of their group with nine points, ahead of Finland and Belarus.

Following the match, Albanian captain Berat Gjimshiti expressed frustration with the team's performance, noting that players seemed focused on individual glory rather than collective play. Coach Rolando Maran also admitted the performance was unsatisfactory, stating the team should have closed the game much earlier in the first half.
