Albania deploys Bayraktar drones to monitor active wildfires

Albanian authorities are deploying Bayraktar TB2 drones to monitor active wildfires across the country. Defense Minister Ermal Nufi confirmed that these unmanned aerial vehicles provide real-time data on fire spread and the movement of firefighting helicopters to assist in ground coordination.

In the last 24 hours, 25 fire outbreaks were reported, with 9 remaining active. The military response includes 167 personnel, 3 helicopters, and 2 Air Tractor aircraft. Significant operations are underway in areas such as Dajti and Priskë e Madhe, where authorities report no immediate danger to residential buildings.

In the Lundër area of Tirana Municipality, firefighters from Elbasan have joined the operation to combat flames spreading near homes. High temperatures, drought, and wind are complicating efforts. Local authorities have issued warnings to citizens to avoid activities that could spark new fires, such as outdoor burning or improper disposal of cigarette butts.
