Albania highlights diverse landscapes from the Riviera to the Alps

Albania has emerged as a significant travel destination, offering diverse landscapes ranging from the coastal Albanian Riviera to the mountainous northern regions.

The Albanian Riviera stretches approximately 100 kilometers between Vlora and Saranda along the Ionian Sea. Key locations include Ksamil, known for its turquoise waters and nearby uninhabited islands, and more secluded pebble beaches such as Gjipe, Jala, Palasë, and Borsh. The region is characterized by clear water and a landscape framed by the Ceraunian Mountains.

In the north, the Shala River, located within the Albanian Alps, is noted for its resemblance to Southeast Asian landscapes due to its dense forests and clear blue water. Access to the river typically involves traveling through the Koman Lake area, which features steep cliffs reminiscent of Norwegian fjords. The journey often requires a combination of driving and boat travel from cities like Shkodra.
