Albania hosts 17th ARLEM plenary session

Albania is hosting the 17th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) from October 26–28, 2026. The forum brings together over 80 representatives from local and regional authorities across the European Union and Southern Mediterranean partners to strengthen cooperation and promote sustainable development.

Key discussion topics include the implementation of the Pact for the Mediterranean, climate change mitigation, water management, gender equality, civil protection, and institutional capacity building. The program features thematic sessions, coordinating meetings, and the presentation of specific initiatives such as the ‘Gender Equality Facility in Albania’, ‘NATURIncMed’, ‘ForestMED’, and ‘MEDTER’.

The event includes the ARLEM 2026 Award ceremony and visits to Roskovec and Berat. High-level participants include representatives from the European Commission, the Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Union for the Mediterranean, and the National Association of Municipalities of Albania.
