Albania inaugurates Honorary Consulate in Naples

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Albania was inaugurated at Villa Doria d’Angri in Naples, Italy. The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Honorary Consul Giuseppe Lettieri, Albanian Ambassador to Italy Anila Bitri, and various Italian regional and local leaders.

During the event, Prime Minister Rama emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and economic ties between Albania and Italy, describing Italy as Albania’s ‘European alter ego.’ He highlighted the specific connection to Naples, referring to the city as a mirror of Albania on the opposite side of the sea. Rama also touched upon Albania’s progress toward European Union membership.

Gianni Letta also spoke at the ceremony, noting that diplomacy is essential for cultivating and maintaining strong relations between nations through business, labor, and culture. The new consulate is expected to further strengthen the institutional and economic links between the two countries.
