Albania increases disability payments and caregiver benefits

Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu announced new government measures to support children with disabilities and their families during a meeting in Lezhë.

As of August, payments for children with disabilities and deaf children under the age of 18 have doubled. Additionally, starting in October, the state will begin paying social security and health insurance contributions for over 14,000 caregivers and personal assistants of persons with disabilities.

Koçiu stated that these measures are designed to ensure caregivers have secure pensions and access to health insurance schemes, including support for temporary work incapacity and workplace accidents. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that these increases are funded by the state budget, which has grown due to economic expansion.
