Albania: Interior Minister calls for prosecution of arsonists

Albanian Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari has called for strict legal action against individuals arrested for intentional arson. The announcement follows the flagrante arrest of a 62-year-old man in Mirditë by the State Police. The suspect is accused of starting six separate fires and reportedly has a history of similar incidents.

Lamallari emphasized that authorities are actively tracking arsonists to protect lives, private property, and public assets. He urged citizens to report suspicious activity to emergency numbers 129 or 112 and cautioned the public against starting fires, even through negligence.
