Wildfires spread across multiple Albanian districts

Multiple wildfires are currently affecting various regions across Albania, prompting intensive emergency operations. According to the Ministry of Defense, dozens of fires have been reported within a 24-hour period, with several remaining active in districts including Tirana, Fier, Durrës, Gjirokastër, and Dibër.

In Krujë, specifically in the Abaze and Krastë–Halil areas, firefighting efforts have involved multiple helicopters to combat wind-driven flames. While some areas faced increased risk to residential zones, authorities report that current operations have stabilized the situation in several locations. In the Patos municipality, a fire in Drenie has reactivated deep within the forest, requiring support from Air Tractor aircraft.

Other active fronts include Dajti in Tirana, where fires have reactivated near the Qafë Mollë tunnels, and the Nëmerçka mountain in Përmet. In Dibër, significant operations are underway in Gurë-Lurë to protect local communities. Emergency response teams, including the Albanian Armed Forces and civil protection structures, are utilizing fire engines, helicopters, and specialized aircraft to manage the outbreaks. While many fires in Mallakastër, Kavajë, and Lezhë have been fully extinguished, authorities remain on high alert to monitor remaining hotspots.
