Albania finance minister reports double‑digit fiscal revenue rise in Q1 2026

Albanian Finance Minister Petrit Malaj presented data for the first quarter of 2026, noting that total budget revenues reached 275.8 billion lek, an 11.7% increase year‑on‑year and about €302 million more than the same period in 2025. Tax and customs revenues grew to 172.7 billion lek, up €8.8 billion, while contributions to social‑security and health schemes rose 12.5% to 66.8 billion lek.

Business activity also expanded, with the declared turnover of enterprises climbing 11% (about 133 billion lek) and 8,070 new firms registered, an 11% rise over the previous year. The services sector drove 24.5% of the growth, followed by construction (13.2%) and trade (10.4%). Local government revenues showed a record 188% increase, reflecting higher impact and property taxes. Inflation remains low, keeping consumer purchasing power stable.
