Albania proposes 749 million lek budget for sports in 2027

The Albanian government has proposed a total budget of 749 million lek for sports development in 2027, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport Endrit Hoxha. This figure represents a decrease of approximately 85.6 million lek compared to the 834.6 million lek allocated for 2026.

The 2027 sports budget is divided into 714 million lek for current expenses and 35 million lek for capital expenditures. Capital investments include 4 million lek for the SHIES project in collaboration with the University of Sports in Tirana, 16 million lek for the BeActive RASMUS plus project in the Balkans, and 15 million lek dedicated to studying and financing sports infrastructure projects.

During discussions in the Commission for Education, Science, and Sports, opposition members expressed dissatisfaction, with Luan Boçin criticizing the meetings as mere formalities lacking meaningful debate.
