Albania reforms business inspection system with smart cameras
Albania is implementing a reform of its inspection system to increase transparency and reduce human intervention in business controls. Dashnor Sula, the General Inspector, announced that the new system will utilize digitalization to move away from subjective decision-making by individual inspectors.
Key features of the reform include equipping inspectors with smart cameras to document the inspection process and ensure accountability. Furthermore, the selection of businesses for inspection will be determined by a risk-based system rather than individual inspector discretion. Sula also encouraged citizens to report abuses or problematic issues, noting that reports can be made anonymously or confidentially to assist in identifying areas for oversight.
