Albania reports growth in agricultural exports and retail trade

Albania has reported positive economic trends in both agricultural exports and retail trade. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla stated that agricultural exports to the European Union and other markets reached approximately 380 million euros in the first seven months of the year, representing a 2.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

This growth is attributed to improved standards, higher product quality, and the expansion of greenhouse cultivation for fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants. Despite challenges from climate conditions and natural disasters, the sector has maintained momentum.

Additionally, data from INSTAT shows that retail trade volume in Albania increased by 6.8% during the second quarter (April-June) compared to the same period in 2025. This rise is linked to improved consumer purchasing power and the start of the tourism season. The non-food sector, hydrocarbons, and food/beverages were the primary contributors to this growth, with the hydrocarbon sector seeing a notable 8.4% increase in sales volume.
