Albania sees rise in foreign workers to 22,600

The number of foreign workers in Albania has risen to 22,600 as of June 2026, up from 18,000 in 2025. Foreign nationals now account for 3.1% of the country's total workforce, with citizens from the Philippines, India, and Egypt leading the new employment trends. Experts suggest this reliance on international labor is increasing as local businesses face challenges due to domestic emigration.

At the Albanian company Ital Costruzioni, which produces metal structures for the European market, Indian engineers have noted that working in Albania offers monthly earnings 30% to 50% higher than in India. Beyond higher wages, these workers cited benefits such as accommodation, food, transport, and private health insurance as key incentives for seeking professional experience within the European market.
