Albania sees tourism surge as Durrës hotels reach high occupancy
Albania is seeing a significant surge in tourism, with the coastal city of Durrës experiencing high visitor numbers in early August. Local tourism representatives report that hotels in Durrës are expected to reach 100% capacity throughout the month. The influx includes local residents, the Albanian diaspora, and international tourists from countries including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Armenia, and Portugal.
Adding to this growth, the American media outlet "The Week" has identified Albania as one of the top seven tourist destinations offering high value for travelers. The publication highlighted the country's affordability regarding accommodation, food, and activities. Key attractions noted include the coastal regions of Saranda, Vlora, and Himara, the Albanian Alps, and the Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër). The capital, Tirana, was also praised for its urban life and gastronomy, while cultural sites like the Bunk’Art museum were mentioned as notable destinations.
