Albania tax administration erases €91.6 million in liabilities for 105,000 taxpayers

Albania’s Tax Administration reported the successful completion of an automatic, unconditional deletion of unpaid tax liabilities under Law No. 86/2025. A total of 105,409 taxpayers benefited, with around €91.6 million of obligations removed.

The erased amount breaks down into €70.5 million in administrative fines imposed by tax inspectors for unpaid duties covering periods up to 31 December 2014 (benefiting 13,667 taxpayers) and €21.1 million in other administrative penalties, including late‑filing fines for periods up to 31 December 2024 (benefiting 96,302 taxpayers). Taxpayers subject to criminal convictions or ongoing investigations were excluded.

The measure is part of broader steps required by the law, which also allows a 50 % reduction of principal amounts for obligations arising between 2015 and 2019, provided the remaining balance is paid in full by 30 June 2026, with full forgiveness of fines and interest.
