Albania welcomes 2.5 million foreign tourists in first four months, nearly half from Kosovo

In the first four months of 2026, Albania recorded more than 2.5 million arrivals of foreign tourists, a 5 % rise compared with the same period in 2025, according to the Institute of Statistics. Almost 50 % of these visitors came from neighboring Kosovo, while other sizable groups originated from Italy, North Macedonia, Greece, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Serbia, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Tourism operator Jetmira Hoxha noted that many visitors were first‑time travelers and praised the pleasant weather and hospitality, but some tourists reported higher prices and inconsistent service quality, describing price hikes as a “Bakery of the Akilit” situation. April was highlighted as the strongest month, with about 900 000 foreign guests, up 9 % year on year.
