Albanian activist Eva Pango criticizes Ombudsman after head injury

Activist Eva Pango has raised concerns regarding the response of the Albanian Ombudsman following an incident during a protest in Tirana on October 15. Pango was struck in the head by a projectile used for dispersing tear gas, resulting in a skull fracture and a 12-day hospitalization at the Trauma Hospital.

In an interview, Pango questioned the effectiveness of the Ombudsman, noting that the institution is funded by taxpayer money to protect citizens' rights and liberties. She criticized the delay in institutional reaction to the violence used during the protest.

Pango also addressed the political landscape, suggesting that the Democratic Party and other opposition groups should unite with protesters to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. She argued that current political divisions should be set aside to achieve the common goal of political change.
