Albanian ambassador in North Macedonia downplays attacks as students recount eight‑hour border detention

Denion Meidani, Albania's ambassador to North Macedonia, told students at a meeting in Jalë that personal attacks against him do not trouble him, saying the accusations reflect more on the accusers than on him. He affirmed his commitment to European standards, education, family values and the country's constitutional principles.

Student Veib Kamberaj responded to statements by VLEN deputy Bekim Qoku, describing how he and other Albanian students were held for about eight hours at the Qafë Thanë border with Serbia without water or food. He rejected claims that the students were unaware of the trip’s purpose or that their presence was politically motivated, and thanked the Albanian embassy for assisting them after the protest ended.
