Albanian coastal resorts Golem and Durrës see weaker summer demand
The summer season in the Albanian coastal towns of Golem and Durrës remains dynamic, with organized group tours arriving from the airport, hotels operating under contracts, and new markets exploring the shoreline. However, demand is showing signs of weakness. Last‑minute bookings, which normally account for about 20 % of capacity, faded sharply at the end of June and the start of July. German tourists, who usually arrive under guarantee contracts, have decreased, and July offers are appearing across the sector at a time when prices typically rise.
Polish, Czech and Slovak groups continue to hold the main share of organised tourism, while French, British and Armenian visitors are testing the destination for the first time. Persistent Euro‑area inflation adds pressure on hotel margins, tightening profitability. Operators warn that, despite the possibility of filling rooms, the overall summer outlook remains uncertain and may fall short of business expectations.
