Albanian corruption files and Kino Kosova festival draw attention

The publication ‘The Albanian Files’ has drawn significant attention for its documentation of secret deals driving the construction boom in Albania. The work is being used by social activists and political opposition as evidence in criminal complaints filed by SPAK against Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding his leadership of the National Territorial Council. Albanian architects have also organized to protest exploitative practices by international studios, linking the publication's findings to public procurement and master plans.

The controversy has extended to the Netherlands, where Dutch media and architectural portals have critiqued the connection between Albanian corruption and the recruitment of star architects. In Bern, Switzerland, the seventh edition of the ‘Kino Kosova’ film festival has opened. Rather than a competition, the festival aims to serve as a platform for dialogue and cultural exchange, attracting a diverse audience of the Albanian diaspora and Swiss film enthusiasts.

Festival founder Sabahet Meta emphasized that the event focuses on discovering new perspectives and fostering friendships under the theme ‘Where Is Everybody?’. The opening ceremony included representatives from the embassies of Kosovo, Portugal, and South Korea.
