Albanian diaspora protests border blockade of convoy
Members of the Albanian diaspora are protesting after reports that a convoy of vehicles traveling from Montenegro to Albania was blocked at the border. Activists claim that Montenegrin authorities are preventing participants from entering Albania to join a planned national protest in Tirana.
Artan Daçi, an activist based in London, reported that several vehicles in the convoy were stopped near the Nikshiq border crossing. He alleged that the blockage is being carried out following orders from Albanian authorities. The convoy, which has been easily identifiable due to logos on the vehicles, has reportedly received support from locals and motorcyclists along the route.
In response to the situation, protesters marched toward the Montenegrin embassy in Tirana, chanting patriotic songs and demanding that the diaspora be allowed to enter the country. Protesters have accused the Albanian government of involvement in the border restrictions.
