Albanian Finance Minister Murati Faces Criminal Complaint Over Veteran Double Pensions
The Veterans Organization of the UÇK (OVL‑UÇK) announced it will file a criminal complaint against Albanian Finance Minister Hekuran Murati, accusing him of failing to implement the Supreme Court’s ruling that grants double pensions to UÇK veterans. The organization says the Ministry of Finance is withholding the funds and obstructing the execution of assets that legally belong to the veterans.
OVL‑UÇK chairman Hysni Gucati told Ekonomia Online that the group is preparing lawyers for the case. He highlighted that many veterans are experiencing severe economic and social hardship, with 67‑80 suffering from cancer, and that local officials have been instructed not to accept veterans’ documentation. The organization urged Murati to comply with the court decision and the law.
