Albanian folk music inspires soundtrack of Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey

Oscar‑winning composer Ludwig Göransson traveled to southern Albania, where he recorded traditional iso‑polyphonic singing and the sound of the çifteli (double‑flute). He said these authentic Albanian elements became the basis for the score of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Hollywood film, "The Odyssey".

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted the collaboration, noting that the iso‑polyphony and çifteli are part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. He praised the inclusion of Albanian musical heritage in one of the most anticipated films of recent years, underscoring the cultural pride it brings to Albania and the wider Balkan region.
