The new season of the Abissnet Superiore is set to begin with a match between Vllaznia and Skënderbeu at the Loro Boriçi stadium. Marjus Sulejmani, Director of Competitions at the Albanian Football Association, announced several structural changes for the 2026–2027 season.

A new competition format will be implemented following three regular phases. Teams will then split into two stages: a play-off involving the top six teams to determine the champion, and a play-out phase for teams ranked seventh through tenth.

Additionally, the league will enforce rules regarding young players, requiring teams to activate players with Albanian passports born in 2007 or later. The official opening ceremony will take place during the Egnatia vs. Tirana match, hosted by the defending champions, Egnatia.
