Albanian football season begins with Kategoria e Parë launch and Superiore struggles
The new season of the Albanian First Division (Kategoria e Parë) is set to begin this weekend, with RTSH broadcasting the matches. The opening week features six matches scheduled for September 5 and 6, including Iliria–Pogradeci, Kukësi–Besëlidhja, and Bylis–Sopoti on Saturday, followed by Korabi–Oriku, Besa–Flamurtari, and Burreli–Kastrioti on Sunday.
In the Albanian Superiore, capital clubs Tirana and Partizani are facing early difficulties in the 2026/2027 season. Tirana currently sits at the bottom of the standings with zero points and will face Vora this Sunday without the support of fans due to a stadium ban. Meanwhile, Partizani seeks its first win after a draw and a loss to Laçi, with an upcoming away match against Vllaznia. Vllaznia enters the fixture following disciplinary suspensions involving their coach and president.
