Albanian Foreign Minister Hoxha Calls EU Enlargement a Strategic Investment at Rome Meeting
Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha attended the Group of Friends of the Western Balkans meeting in Rome, hosted by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. In a post on X, Hoxha described EU enlargement as “one of the most successful strategic investments of the European Union for peace, stability, security and prosperity,” stressing that maintaining momentum in accession talks benefits both the Western Balkans and the EU itself.
He urged that the enlargement process remain merit‑based, with candidate countries continuing reforms while the EU recognises and rewards progress. Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to complete accession negotiations by 2027 and to become a full EU member within the decade, calling the current window “historic.”
