Albanian Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari Announces New Security Measures

Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari warned that additional individuals could be declared “non‑grata” if they threaten Albania’s national security, emphasizing the State Police’s role in protecting citizens.

He also presented heightened security provisions for the 2026 summer tourist season along Albania’s coast. The plan includes full‑capacity deployment of the State Police, Border Police and the Maritime Police Unit, with 35 watercraft, trained personnel and aerial monitoring by drones to safeguard beaches and maritime traffic and to support tourists from Albania and neighboring Kosovo.
