Albanian magistrates seek reinstatement from Constitutional Court

Nine former magistrates dismissed during the vetting process are requesting the Constitutional Court to reinstate them into the judicial system. This request follows the conclusion of the Special Appeal Commission (KPA) mission, with its competencies having been transferred to the Constitutional Court.

At least four of the former officials hold decisions from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which identified various violations in the processes that led to their dismissal and suggested a reopening of their cases. Notable individuals among those seeking review include former Appeal Court judge Ervin Metalla, former Durrës Appeal Prosecutor Ferdinand Elezi, former prosecutor Gentjan Osmani, and former Puka Court head Izet Kadana.

Additionally, former Supreme Court judge Shkëlzen Selimi has requested a full review of his procedure from the beginning, citing that he was not properly informed of the accusations against him during the initial process.
