Albanian man Refit Buzi kills family members and dies by suicide

On the morning of 24 July in the village of Vidhisht, Roskovec, Albania, 35‑year‑old Refit Buzi (also referred to as Nertil Buzi) shot his father Kosta Plaka and seriously wounded his mother Belere Plaka, who later died. He then held his former partner, 24‑year‑old Rozalinda Plaka, hostage, threatening her with a hunting rifle. Police and the elite RENEA unit conducted negotiations for about nine to ten hours. After releasing Rozalinda, Buzi turned the gun on himself inside his vehicle, ending the tragedy with three fatalities.

Investigators noted that Buzi had previously claimed a large sum of money—reported as £830,000 from England—was sent to him and later not returned, a possible motive for the attack. The incident drew a rapid response from local law‑enforcement agencies, and the case is now under ongoing investigation.
