Albanian MP Agron Shehaj Suspended 60 Days Over Confidential Document Grab
The Albanian Parliament voted to suspend MP Agron Shehaj for 60 days from all plenary and committee sessions after he forcibly took a classified document concerning a loan agreement between Albania and the United States. During the incident a parliamentary adviser was injured while trying to retrieve the document.
The Socialist Party, which lodged the complaint, accused Shehaj of breaching confidentiality rules and demanded that the case be referred to the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) for possible criminal charges, including unlawful handling of classified information. Shehaj denied the allegations, claiming his actions were aimed at exposing a lack of transparency in the loan deal.
