Albanian MP Ilire Dauti accuses VLEN and BDI of undermining diaspora voting rights

Ilire Dauti, a deputy of the Albanian List, has accused the VLEN and BDI political blocs of cooperating to favor the VMRO‑DPMNE (also referred to as OBRM‑PDUKM) by shaping a new electoral code. The proposed code would bar Albanian diaspora voters from using electronic or postal voting in local elections, a change Dauti says would directly affect municipalities with Albanian majorities such as Kërçovë, Bërvenicë and Butel. She argues that both blocs are acting in the interest of the Macedonian party and urges support for amendments submitted by her own party to block the restrictive provisions. Dauti called the actions a serious harm to the interests of Albanians abroad and demanded public denunciation of the political maneuver.
