Albanian Opposition Decries Weapon Incident in Palasë Amid Tourism Season

Deputy Klevis Balliu of the Democratic Party condemned a recent incident in the coastal resort of Palasë where firearms recovered from a yacht alarmed tourists. He described the event as evidence of a "crime‑state" where organized crime operates with impunity and accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of deflecting criticism by blaming civic protests for harming tourism.

Balliu warned that the presence of armed groups during the peak tourist period undermines public safety and damages Albania’s international image, calling for law‑enforcement action against those linked to the weapons haul.
