Albanian opposition protests pressure PM Edi Rama amid Socialist Party anniversary

Socialist Party deputy Erion Malaj said the party's 35‑year anniversary event scheduled for 12 June in Tirana was planned well before the recent anti‑government protests and is not intended as an "anti‑meeting".

Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha pledged support for the protesters, calling for Prime Minister Edi Rama's resignation, the repeal of the Strategic Investment Law and other measures, and urging the formation of a technical government and international backing. The statements reflect escalating political tension in Albania as large‑scale demonstrations continue.
