Albanian PM Edi Rama urged to resign over 13‑year corruption scandal list

Genta Vangjeli, the Democratic Party’s anti‑corruption chief, delivered a detailed statement accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of overseeing a continuous chain of scandals since 2013. She enumerated dozens of alleged wrongdoings – from the CEZ agreement, the Divjakë drug‑plane case, and lucrative health‑sector concessions, to the “New Ring” scandal, the demolition of the National Theatre, bogus incinerator contracts, massive data leaks of citizens’ personal information, and the recent McGonigal and Durrës Port controversies. Vangjeli argued that each episode has drained billions of lekë from public coffers, deepened poverty and eroded trust in state institutions. Concluding that Rama has lost both moral legitimacy and public confidence, she called for his immediate resignation, describing it as inevitable for Albania’s democratic future.
