Albanian man arrested in Tirana for attempted murder of Italian officer

An Albanian man, 33, has been arrested in Tirana following an international investigation led by the Caserta Police. He is accused of attempted murder and personal injury involving a member of the Caserta Mobile Squad.

The incident occurred in May in Grazzanise, Italy, when authorities attempted to execute a restrictive measure against the suspect for previous crimes, including theft and robbery. During the attempt to apprehend him, the suspect used his vehicle to strike police cars and subsequently ran over an officer, causing him to lose consciousness. Following the incident, the suspect fled to Albania.

Following the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice, the Albanian Criminal Police executed the arrest in Tirana. Italian judicial authorities have requested his extradition to face charges including attempted murder, personal injury, property damage, and resisting arrest.
