Albanian rescue teams locate missing motorist in Majë e Jezercës and German hikers in Karabur

Two separate mountain‑rescue operations were completed in early August 2026. In the Majë e Jezercës area of the Albanian Alps, two motorcyclists who had lost their way were found safe after several hours of searching by Kosovo Search and Rescue teams in cooperation with the Albanian State Police and local rescue units. The joint effort located the riders, provided assistance and brought them to a secure location without injury.

Later that night, a team from the Albanian Alpine and Speleology Rescue Service responded to a distress call from the German embassy after two 17‑year‑old German nationals went missing while exploring the Karabur region. After intensive night‑time searching, the rescuers located the youths near the “Ravena” area, supplied them with water and food, and escorted them to the Orikum police station early the next morning. Both operations were praised for their professionalism and cross‑border coordination.
