Albanian Socialist Party urged to self‑correct amid internal reform demands

Former minister Ermelinda Meksi joined former deputy Ilir Zela in calling for a comprehensive internal reform of the Socialist Party of Albania. She warned that the party risks losing its ability to self‑correct and urged a shift from slogans to concrete democratic procedures, including a review of the current “one member, one vote” system and the method for electing the party chair every four years. Meksi’s comments came amid mass protests in Tirana that have continued for 25 days.

Deputy Erion Braçe publicly rejected circulating rumours that he would leave the Socialist Party parliamentary group. Braçe affirmed his long‑standing affiliation with the party, stating he will remain a socialist MP, continue to hold the party accountable from within, and will not become independent or resign his mandate.
