Albanians for America supports US SRBIJA Act targeting Serbian government accountability

The organization Albanians for America (AFA) has expressed support for the introduction of the ‘Supporting the Rule of Law, Building Institutional Justice, and Accountability Act’ (SRBIJA Act) in the United States Congress. The organization views this legislation as a vital step toward increasing accountability for the Serbian government.

AFA raised concerns regarding democratic regression in Serbia, including corruption, the weakening of independent institutions, restrictions on media freedom, and the treatment of protesters. The group has specifically called for independent investigations into the railway station tragedy in Novi Sad and allegations of excessive force used against peaceful demonstrators.

Furthermore, the organization highlighted Serbia’s deep political, economic, and security ties with Russia, China, and Iran, suggesting these relationships should be reviewed in light of the security interests of the United States, NATO, and Europe. AFA emphasized that its criticisms are directed at the policies of the Serbian government rather than the Serbian people, advocating for democracy and transparency across the Western Balkans.
