Albania's Interior Minister calls for prosecution of arsonists

Albanian Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari has called on judicial authorities to aggressively prosecute arsonists following ongoing wildfires in the country. The Minister emphasized that while firefighting forces, the police, and the military are working to contain active blazes in areas such as Lura National Park and Krujë, legal action must run in parallel to address intentional destruction of national property.

Lamallari urged prosecutors to demonstrate high professional commitment in pursuing criminal cases against those responsible for starting fires. He stated that the State Police must prioritize identifying perpetrators so they can face the full force of the law. The call comes as extreme temperatures and difficult terrain complicate efforts to protect forested areas and protected zones.
