Albania's Minister Evis Sala Announces European Guarantee for Children Plan to Aid 100,000 Kids

Albanian Health and Social Welfare Minister Prof. Evis Sala presented the European Guarantee for Children Action Plan for 2026‑2030, which aims to support roughly 100,000 children facing social exclusion or complex vulnerabilities. The plan coordinates measures across social protection, health and education to improve access to quality services and ensure equal development opportunities.

Key actions include doubling financial assistance for about 11,000 children with disabilities and recognising social‑insurance contributions for their caregivers. Sala stressed that the plan builds on recent reforms and is part of Albania’s EU integration process, reflecting a broader responsibility to all children. UNICEF’s regional director for Europe, Edouard Beigbeder, praised Albania’s leadership in drafting and implementing the plan, calling it a significant regional investment in child poverty reduction and social inclusion.
