Albano: Couple injured after car overturns in Appia Bis tunnel

A car overturned in the Appia Bis tunnel near Albano during the early morning hours. The vehicle, traveling toward Ariccia, lost traction for reasons still under investigation, causing it to flip onto its side.

A couple in their 50s was inside the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. They were rescued by firefighters and transported to the Ospedale dei Castelli and the hospital in Frascati. While their injuries are significant, they are not reported to be in life-threatening condition.

The tunnel was closed for approximately one hour to allow for emergency services, safety measures, and investigations by the Carabinieri. The incident has renewed concerns regarding road safety within the Appia Bis tunnels due to previous accidents in the area.
