Albano Laziale proposes circular water district for agriculture
The municipal government of Albano Laziale has initiated a project to create the Pavona – Santa Maria in Fornarola Circular Water District. The initiative aims to recover and reuse treated wastewater to support local agriculture, irrigation, public greenery maintenance, and sports facilities.
Through a formal directive, the administration has requested that EGATO 2 and ACEA ATO 2 conduct a technical and economic feasibility study for a dedicated distribution network. The goal is to reduce the consumption of potable water and limit withdrawals from aquifers by providing a sustainable alternative for non-potable uses.
The project is currently in the evaluation phase and does not involve immediate municipal spending. The administration intends to open an institutional meeting within thirty days to identify necessary infrastructure and define water quotas. Officials clarified that this water reuse project is distinct from ongoing local discussions regarding the Santa Palomba plant facility.
