Albbruck Schachen forest fire investigated after large blaze

A large forest fire broke out on Monday, September 7, 2026, in a wooded area between the Albbruck district of Schachen and the Görwihler district of Niederwihl. Due to dry conditions and wind, the fire spread rapidly across an area of approximately 50 meters by 50 meters.

Volunteer firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control with a large deployment, preventing further spread. Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have been caused by a disposable grill found alongside two garden chairs on a concrete base of an old power pole. The Waldshut-Tiengen police station has launched an investigation and is seeking witnesses or information regarding individuals who frequently frequent the site.
