Albert Arenas wins 2026 World Supersport Championship
Albert Arenas has secured the 2026 World Supersport Championship at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal. The Spanish rider clinched the title during the first race of the weekend by finishing in fourth place, a result that made it mathematically impossible for his main rival, Valentin Debise, to overtake him with three races remaining.
Arenas’s championship campaign was defined by consistency, including 13 podium finishes. While he secured only two race victories during the season—at Balaton and Misano—his steady performance allowed him to maintain a significant points lead. This marks Arenas’s second world title, following his 2020 Moto3 championship, and represents Yamaha’s second consecutive Supersport title.
The race at Estoril saw significant action, including a crash by pole-sitter Can Öncü. Tom Booth-Amos won the race, narrowly defeating teammate Oli Bayliss, while Jeremy Alcoba completed the podium.
