Albert Kangwanda called up to Zambia squad for AFCON qualifiers

Albert Kangwanda, a striker for Yanga SC, has been called up to the Zambia national team for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Algeria and Togo.

Kangwanda joins the squad following a strong start to the season in the NBC Premier League, where he has scored two goals. His inclusion marks a significant step in his international career as he seeks to represent the Chipolopolo on the continental stage.

However, Zambia's interim head coach, George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina, noted that the team will face challenges due to several absences. Key players Klings Kangwa and Clatous Chama are unavailable, with Kangwa serving a suspension and Chama being omitted from the squad despite his performance for Simba SC. Zambia is scheduled to play Algeria away on September 25 before hosting Togo in Ndola on September 29.
