Albert Pintat receives Andorra's highest distinction
The Government of Andorra has awarded the Creu dels Set Braços, the country's highest decoration, to former Head of Government Albert Pintat Santolària. The award recognizes his political and institutional career and his dedication to the service of Andorra.
During the ceremony held at the Espai Columba in Santa Coloma, current Head of Government Xavier Espot praised Pintat as a precursor who helped modernize the country and strengthen its international presence. Espot highlighted Pintat's role in advancing relations with the European Union and implementing strategic projects in infrastructure, diplomacy, and cultural heritage during his mandate between 2005 and 2009.
In his acceptance speech, Pintat expressed gratitude but also voiced concerns regarding the rise of populist leadership and the impact of international actors operating outside of multilateral organizations, noting that such attitudes can weaken cooperation between states and institutions like the United Nations.
